Institute of Mechanics and Biomechanics

The Institute of Mechanics and Biomechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was established in 1972 on the basis of the Institute of Technical Mechanics (founded in 1962). The institute is a leading research center in the field of theoretical and applied mechanics. It performs research, consultations and experts’ reports, metrology measurements, construction of scientific devices and education of highly specialists in theoretical and applied mechanics, biomechanics and mechatronics.

Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is national autonomous organization for scientific investigations. It has the Society of Academicians, Correspondent Members and Foreign members of BAS.
Bulgarian Academy of Sciences consists also of independent scientific institutes, laboratories and other sections, united in three scientific branches: "Natural, mathematical and engineering sciences", "Biological, medical and agrarian sciences", "Social, humanitarian sciences and art"..
